Booking a session

Phone 604.832.1628 or email perfectmoments@shaw.ca.

Before your session, I’d love to get to know you and your family a bit so I can be sure to capture exactly what you’re looking for.  A phone consult is a great way for us to connect. I’ll ask a few questions and mention some thoughts and ideas to help get you ready for our time together.

What should I bring?

For newborn and baby sessions, I have a good selection of baskets, accessories and blankets but feel free to bring something unique of your own.  When photographing children, you’re welcome to bring some of their favorite things to help capture their unique personality: a blanket, stuffed toy or even sports equipment such as a soccer ball or a baseball bat. Wardrobe changes are also welcome so bring an extra outfit or two. For couples I encourage wardrobe changes as well and be sure and check out Pinterest for plenty of style ideas.

What’s your style?

For children, I will often make some time for them to get to know me and to feel comfortable with me before jumping into photographer mode. Although I will gently direct little ones, the best images often come when they are just having fun and acting naturally. This is true for adults as well, so be prepared to laugh at me as I do my best to make you feel relaxed.  If you are planning your wedding, I’d love to meet with you so we can get to know one another and see if we’d make a good match.

What is the timeline for receiving my proofs?

Please allow 2-4 weeks for your proofs to be completed.  When they are ready I will contact you to set up your viewing & ordering consultation. When your final orders are placed, I will confirm a timeline for you as to when to expect your digital images as well as any prints or products you order with us.

What’s a good time to photograph my Newborn?

Newborn photography is best done within the first few days of the baby’s arrival.  Anytime before 10 days old is great because this is when babies are at their sleepiest and therefore easiest to work with.  I usually allow for at least two to three hours to photograph a newborn. This is because sometimes the little one needs some extra coaxing to get to sleep, they might need a feeding here and there, or maybe just need a good cry. I know how babies can be, so I always allow time for all these things to happen and then pose them when they are ready. They call the shots.

Generally, I do most of the session either naked,  in a diaper cover, or swaddled. Newborns are often too small to fit clothing properly so naked is best!    Also, in order to help get those naked angelic sleepy poses, I suggest a few little tricks, feed them before you come and keep your baby awake as long as you can so they are sleepy for our time together. I keep a warm and cozy studio and also have a heating pad that really helps them drift off to sleep.    Please note that every baby is unique so some will allow us to mold them into certain poses and others won’t.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment for the session is due on the date of your session. I accept cash, credit and cheques, and please make all cheques payable to Perfect Moments Photography.
