Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in and feel free to bring wardrobe changes! It’s always fun to have a few different looks so don’t hesitate to bring a few of your favorite things along.
If photographing more than one person coordinate your clothing by all wearing similar shades. This way one person doesn’t stand out more than the others. When photographing little kids I usually suggest they wear bright coloured clothing because it’s fun and stands out best.
Props are great. Things like hats, bags and fabulous shoes. A funky toque to a ball cap from a favorite sports team, they all bring a little personality to the session.
What else should I bring?
For newborn and baby sessions I have a good selection of baskets and blankets but feel free to bring something unique of your own. When photographing kids, you’re welcome to bring some of your child’s favorite things to help capture their unique personality; blanket, stuffed toy or even sports equipment such as a soccer ball or a baseball bat.
How do you work?
I am not an overly posy photographer. I gently guide people but the best shots are always when people are being themselves. For children, I will often allow the time for them to get to know me and feel comfortable with me before jumping into photographer mode. Although I will gently direct little ones, often the best images come when they are just having fun and being themselves. This is true for adults as well, so be prepared to laugh at me as I do my best to make you feel relaxed.
What is the time line for receiving my proofs?
Please allow 2-4 weeks for your proofs to be completed. When they are ready I will contact you to set up your viewing & ordering consultation. When your final orders are placed, I will confirm a time line as to when to expect your digital images, any prints and/or products you order.
Basic digital editing will be done to your images. After viewing your proof images, you will be able to request further re-touching, if required, to the ones that you select.
Newborn Photography
I usually allow for about 2-3hours to shoot a newborn. This is because sometimes the little one needs some coxing to get to sleep, a feeding here and there or just a good cry. I allow time for all this to happen and then pose them when they are ready. They call the shots. Also, in order to get those naked angelic sleepy poses I suggest a few little tricks. Feed your little one right before bringing them. Put them into their car seat with nothing but a diaper on (blankets on top as needed of course). The car ride here usually gets them sleeping and then we can gently remove them from their seat and pose them. I have a heating pad that really helps them feel comfortable. They will usually wake up at some point during the session and at this time we get the awake baby shots too.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment for the session is due on the session date. I accept cash and cheques and please make all cheques payable to Perfect Moments Photography.
