When Heather first contacted me, she expressed a desire to have her maternity photos taken outdoors to capture the beauty of springtime. What she didn’t expect was to be on doctor prescribed bed rest in Surrey hospital and thinking that her baby could be coming any minute. She contacted me after first being put in the hospital and we quickly formulated a plan B. We decided to do her maternity session in Surrey shortly before the spring flowers and leaves, but hopefully well before her baby was due to arrive. Thankfully everything worked out spectacularly. I reached out to other photographers for ideas on locations in the area that would show off the lovely spring colors, and we were directed to a beautiful location near the hospital, Green Timbers Urban Forest. We had great weather and baby decided to stay put for a few more weeks. Heather has since been discharged from the hospital in good health, and we are hoping to meet the little newborn baby in late May or Early June!
I’ve been given the pleasure of photographing Melanie and her family for many years now. We had a blast at her Trash the Dress shoot a few years back in Manning Park. Her husband even joined her in some romantic shots in a boat on the lake. For the maternity session of her first child, Isla, they choose their home and we did some unique photos in their chicken barns too. Now she’s expecting another precious little bundle and I am so excited for this wonderful family. As usual, she picked out a really fantastic location for her session, Hicks Lake at Sasquatch Provincial park. The location is so breathtaking and she looks so elegant! We were lucky to have good weather for this outdoor photo session as they were calling for clouds to roll in quickly. Also, I must mention that we did these photos in March and yes, it was REALLY cold in the water but Melanie is a trooper! I adore spending time with this growing family. They’re kind, honest, hard working people and their little girl is an energetic farm girl already, just like her beautiful momma! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these amazing people in the future.
Well, this is a first! I’ve never done a Year in Review post and although I know things like this usually happen early in January, I thought it was time I tried one for myself! Better late than never, right? I was originally going through photos in order to start a new business Instagram account. I’ve been feeling like I need a new open platform to give clients a sneak peek into some of my work and Instagram seemed like the perfect place to start! I took a little time (okay, way too much time) going through each and every family, newborn, toddler, maternity, engagement and wedding session I did during the last year and chose one photo from each. JUST one. That was the really hard part! I get to know these clients so well during our time together that we leave as friends! How am I supposed to pick one picture out of all that fun? Still, I managed to do it, and here is the beautiful result! A little slice of the beautiful memories we made together this past year. Here’s to another great year, everyone! Enjoy!
I met Darcey and Randy way back in 2011 when I photographed their engagement. Their wedding was held the following spring in 2012 and I still remember the pretty cherry blossoms that provided the beautifully romantic backdrop of their special day. Their wedding decor had a wonderful woodsy feel so I wasn’t surprised when Darcey contacted me and wanted to do a woodsy theme for their maternity session. I love that westcoast, natural look, so I was more than happy to oblige. I love living in this amazing British Collumbia valley! It’s wonderful that even on a dreary fall day we have a a uniquely beautiful landscape to capture these special moments in. Congratulations, Darcey and Randy! I look forward to meeting the little one in the new year!
When this lovely lady contacted me about a maternity session, I instinctively knew that I’d like her. Her kindness was so evident in all her emails and although we had to postpone the shoot once due to bad weather, when we finally did meet, she and her hubby were as sweet awesome as I had expected. They will be welcoming their first baby sometime early December and I’m looking forward to meeting their precious little one. We decided to hold our photo shoot in the ever charming McDonald park in Abbotsford and the backdrop was perfect. That location is one of my favorites and it seemed to suit their personalities so nicely! The soon to be momma chose a couple of very cute outfits for her shoot and it worked perfectly with our natural and softly beautiful surroundings.
This post is special for so many reasons and I hope my simple words can do it some justice. These are my treasured friends who have meant the world to me since getting to know them about nine years ago when we were lucky enough to rent them our basement suite. Time has flown by, even with all that has been packed into the years of our friendship; their move to a little tiny town that felt like light years away, their struggle with infertility and their realization that God wanted them to adopt, the endless waiting for their child to find their home, the arrival of that perfect bundle of joy and finally their move back to the Valley. I’m so happy to have them “home”. They are now in another waiting chapter in their lives. Waiting, hoping and dreaming of the next little one that God has in store for them next. I love you, my friends, and I’m excited to watch your wonderful family grow!
I met Courtney and Jason ages ago and it’s exciting to see them start the new journey in their lives as parents. As always, I feel it’s a gift and a pleasure to share in such beautiful occasions and I thank them sincerely for that honour! I really am blessed with loyal clients who I love to work with and are truly wonderful people as well. It’s also a lot of fun for me to photograph this fantastic couple because they are so easygoing, relaxed, and perfectly natural in front of the camera. They’re an absolute joy! You just can’t teach this stuff!
Their photographs really captured the sweet bond they share. Alone, Courtney is absolutely gorgeous, but with her handsome husband by her side, she shines so wonderfully. You can just see how much he adores her, and it’s easy to understand why. She’s just as gorgeous a person inside as she is on the outside.
Marissa’s photo shoot was a special one for me. She assists me quite often on photo shoots and runs her own photography business, Marissa V Photography, so she knows what makes a beautiful shot. It was a bitter cold day, but she’s such a tough lady and never made a fuss. I love working with her and I love photographing her! She’s due any day now, and I can’t wait to meet her child.
We got some incredible sunlight that day and it made for some breathtaking scenery. The rustic, natural setting suited her so well.
Expecting one baby in a family is already an exciting time. Imagine how much happier (and maybe a little crazier) their lives will be with two new babies to look forward to! I’ve known the Koss Family for a long time now, they did me the honor of having me take their engagement, wedding, maternity and family photos over the years. They’re such kind, lovely people and I’m so lucky to know them. With both mamma and auntie getting ready for little ones, we just had to take some nice summery pictures to mark the occasion! With a cute baby bump, she looked so amazing in everything, and her boys looked fantastic too! As usual, they were so easy to work with and their first boy was such a happy little guy. We had a wonderful time together and you could just feel the family’s joy, and I think it comes through in the pictures, too. In no time at all, we’ll be posting up pictures of the sweet little additions to their beautiful family!
Last winter during the “quiet” season, I was able to update my studio’s flooring, its paint, and the artwork on the walls (I promise photos will come when I get a few more details finished). This winter some of my goals have been to get my new website up and running, to design and produce new packaging materials for my various products, and to update and print my new product guide book. Regrettably, these things all seem to take longer than I first anticipated, but I’m so happy with the end results! The product guide looks fantastic, the new packaging materials look crisp and clean and lovely, and I think my customers will be able to tell how much effort goes into each and every one of their photographs. I have at least three other projects on my plate at the moment and those last few studio updates I want to finish are still in the works, but spring has sprung and they might have to wait till next winter. We’ll have to wait and see! For now, here’s a preview of some of my new packaging, booklets, and materials that we’ll be using sometime in the near future!
