Abbotsford Family Photographer – “K” Maternity and Family

It’s Throw Back Thursday so I thought I’d share this fall maternity and family session from last November. It was really wonderful to see the love this sweet blended family has for each other and their good-natured dog Cabo added to the fun.   The location was perfect for their family photo session with the soft light shining through the trees made it feel a little ethereal.  That’s my favorite! Each subject was so relaxed and easy in front of the camera which made photographing them a breeze.   It’s always easy when subjects do exactly as I ask them but I truly didn’t mind the spontaneity that the furry subject brought to the party either.   Capturing our furry friends is much like chasing two year olds so I’m more than happy to play along. Enjoy the photos!

B&C Maternity Session – Abbotsford Materntiy Session

I’m playing catch up with blog posts and here’s B&C’s maternity session from the end of summer.   I had the opportunity to photograph this cute couple a few years back and now they’re expecting their first child,  a little girl!  It seems all my pregnant momma’s lately are having girls. It will be fun to dress them up in the studio with pink and lace!

We went to a new spot that has quickly become a favorite place. We also spent a little extra time together because there were so many enchanting places I wanted to photograph.   And, before the session even started,  we found out that some cell phones don’t have service around the area and the couple got a little lost without their gps systems. I’m so glad they were able to find the spot and we enjoyed the sun peeking through the trees for the afternoon.

Abbotsford Maternity Photographer – The “L” Family Maternity Session

I was about to post the newborn session from this family when I realized,  I haven’t posted their adorable maternity session from summer.  Can’t have that!  They’re far too cute to not be on the blog.  Below are some photos of a sweet little blue eyed girl who was a former newborn client and boy has she grown!   She’s pretty happy to be getting a little sister and was a joy to work with. This awesome bunch comes all the way from Vancouver to do photos and I so appreciate the honour of being their photographer.  I loved the summer light and we went to a favorite place of mine,  McDonald Park, so it was a pretty wonderful evening.  Newborn photos to come!

J Maternity Session – Abbotsford Maternity Photographer

This pair of beautiful people has been shown off on this page a time or two before! I had the privilege of capturing this sweet couple’s wedding and a little while before that we had a lovely session for their engagement as well. They’re always such a delight to work with. I’m glad to have them as such great clients! For this shoot in particular, we were really hoping for some clear, beautiful skies, but we ended up with intense, dramatic clouds instead. It was actually pretty inspiring! It seems like a great contrast to the field of tiny bright flowers we found. We loved the mountain views to add even more drama! The precious little bundle of joy we were celebrating here has joined us in the world since this session. Those photos will be in a post in the not so distant future, so keep an eye out, you won’t want to miss that little sweetheart!

The B Family – Abbotsford Maternity and Family Photographer

After talking to Mrs. B a little bit, I just knew I’d enjoy working with her and her little family. She had lots of great ideas and was looking forward to having an outdoor session. We were originally considering a few different parks in the local area when she called to see if I thought her family blueberry fields would be a good idea. Of course it was!   Being an Abbotsford girl my whole life, I grew up around berry fields and I’ve always loved them. I can also understand the importance of doing photos in places with so many great memories attached to them. This beautiful momma chose the perfect dress to contrast with the background, too. Look at those handsome boys! They really know how to pose for the camera and still look so natural. Such an adorable family with so much love and so many smiles. I’m very excited to photograph the new baby next week so stay tuned for those! Congratulations to the B Family!

Heather and Family – Abbotsford Maternity Photographer

When Heather first contacted me, she expressed a desire to have her maternity photos taken outdoors to capture the beauty of springtime. What she didn’t expect was to be on doctor prescribed bed rest in Surrey hospital and thinking that her baby could be coming any minute. She contacted me after first being put in the hospital and we quickly formulated a plan B. We decided to do her maternity session in Surrey shortly before the spring flowers and leaves, but hopefully well before her baby was due to arrive. Thankfully everything worked out spectacularly. I reached out to other photographers for ideas on locations in the area that would show off the lovely spring colors, and we were directed to a beautiful location near the hospital, Green Timbers Urban Forest. We had great weather and baby decided to stay put for a few more weeks. Heather has since been discharged from the hospital in good health, and we are hoping to meet the little newborn baby in late May or Early June!

Melanie – Abbotsford Maternity Photographer

I’ve been given the pleasure of photographing Melanie and her family for many years now. We had a blast at her Trash the Dress shoot a few years back in Manning Park.  Her husband even joined her in some romantic shots in a boat on the lake. For the maternity session of her first child, Isla, they choose their home and we did some unique photos in their chicken barns too. Now she’s expecting another precious little bundle and I am so excited for this wonderful family. As usual, she picked out a really fantastic location for her session, Hicks Lake at Sasquatch Provincial park. The location is so breathtaking and she looks so elegant! We were lucky to have good weather for this outdoor photo session as they were calling for clouds to roll in quickly.  Also,  I must mention that we did these photos in March and yes, it was REALLY cold in the water but Melanie is a trooper!   I adore spending time with this growing family. They’re kind, honest, hard working people and their little girl is an energetic farm girl already, just like her beautiful momma! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these amazing people in the future.

Year in Review – Abbotsford Portrait Photographer

Well, this is a first! I’ve never done a Year in Review post and although I know things like this usually happen early in January, I thought it was time I tried one for myself! Better late than never, right? I was originally going through photos in order to start a new business Instagram account. I’ve been feeling like I need a new open platform to give clients a sneak peek into some of my work and Instagram seemed like the perfect place to start!  I took a little time (okay, way too much time) going through each and every family, newborn, toddler, maternity, engagement and wedding session I did during the last year and chose one photo from each.  JUST one. That was the really hard part! I get to know these clients so well during our time together that we leave as friends! How am I supposed to pick one picture out of all that fun? Still, I managed to do it, and here is the beautiful result! A little slice of the beautiful memories we made together this past year. Here’s to another great year, everyone! Enjoy!

Darcey’s Maternity – Abbotsford Maternity Session

I met Darcey and Randy way back in 2011 when I photographed their engagement. Their wedding was held the following spring in 2012 and I still remember the pretty cherry blossoms that provided the beautifully romantic backdrop of their special day. Their wedding decor had a wonderful woodsy feel so I wasn’t surprised when Darcey contacted me and wanted to do a woodsy theme for their maternity session. I love that westcoast, natural look, so I was more than happy to oblige.  I love living in this amazing British Collumbia valley! It’s wonderful that even on a dreary fall day we have a a uniquely beautiful landscape to capture these special moments in. Congratulations, Darcey and Randy! I look forward to meeting the little one in the new year!

D And M – Abbotsford Maternity Photographer

When this lovely lady contacted me about a maternity session, I instinctively knew that I’d like her. Her kindness was so evident in all her emails and although we had to postpone the shoot once due to bad weather, when we finally did meet, she and her hubby were as sweet awesome as I had expected. They will be welcoming their first baby sometime early December and I’m looking forward to meeting their precious little one. We decided to hold our photo shoot in the ever charming McDonald park in Abbotsford and the backdrop was perfect. That location is one of my favorites and it seemed to suit their personalities so nicely! The soon to be momma chose a couple of very cute outfits for her shoot and it worked perfectly with our natural and softly beautiful surroundings.
