Oh, how I love these kids! I have been blessed to have them in my life for at least five years now and it was so much fun to photograph them this spring. The V Kids have grown and blossomed so much since I first met them, and it’s always wonderful to see the changes in their personalities. The adorable outfits that their style-savvy momma picked out for the special day were a perfect fit for our location. We needed a little cover from the rain that drizzly day, so we ended up at Abbotsford City Hall and it turns out that it was perfect regardless of the sprinkles. The gardens were wonderful and full of pretty blooming flowers. The rain even stopped for a while right at the end of the day and let a little bit of sun peek out!
Yes, I am sneaking in a recent session done with a wonderful little family only a few weeks ago. This is my beautiful friend and her amazing family and I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoyed spending the day with them! Seriously, they are awesome people! The kids were so sweet and funny and I loved getting to see their personalities come out and shine in each and every one of the photographs. They worked so hard and they really earned their yummy suckers at the end of the session. Yes, even the parents were easy to photograph… although I didn’t give them suckers. Maybe I should have! 😉
Remember our beautiful Spring this year?! Here’s a post that revisits that lovely weather we had in May. I am very slowly getting some past posts up and should eventually be posting some of my current photos from these dreamy evenings we have been getting this September. For now, enjoy these fun photos of the SA Family enjoying all the beauty of a Spring afternoon in the Fraser Valley.
I had a little fun editing this session featuring little Baby B and Miss S: it’s got an artsy feel and I love that about it. My favorite photos are often of children who don’t really know they’re being photographed. I just guided this little miss and let her explore. Nature makes perfect props and she really enjoyed blowing dandelion seeds. Her little brother joined us too but he hasn’t found his sea legs quite yet! 😉
A few months back I dragged my children out at seven o’clock on a Saturday morning because I felt Inspiration. They were a little chilly but we ended up having a great time. Can’t beat a foggy sunrise in beautiful BC. They had a wonderful time exploring the land around the little river and eating a little picnic breakfast.
Last weekend I enjoyed a trip to Rowena’s Inn on the River near Agassiz, BC. Wow, it is amazing! Of course it was doubly wonderful because I was photographing some the best subjects in the whole world! The Gronberg kids and I get to have play-date sessions 2-3 times a year and I’ve grown to love these wonderful little people. They are just a joy to work with. I love every minute!
Rowen’s Inn has numerous places for us to explore and so I’m posting a few photos now and more to come. These are the first ones we did near the forested area and stream. So pretty!
Last winter during the “quiet” season, I was able to update my studio’s flooring, its paint, and the artwork on the walls (I promise photos will come when I get a few more details finished). This winter some of my goals have been to get my new website up and running, to design and produce new packaging materials for my various products, and to update and print my new product guide book. Regrettably, these things all seem to take longer than I first anticipated, but I’m so happy with the end results! The product guide looks fantastic, the new packaging materials look crisp and clean and lovely, and I think my customers will be able to tell how much effort goes into each and every one of their photographs. I have at least three other projects on my plate at the moment and those last few studio updates I want to finish are still in the works, but spring has sprung and they might have to wait till next winter. We’ll have to wait and see! For now, here’s a preview of some of my new packaging, booklets, and materials that we’ll be using sometime in the near future!
I am so grateful that we live in a place that can look pretty, even in the winter! It’s also nice that I live in an area where there are numerous parks just a short drive from my home and I can provide both outdoor and studio locations for my clients. Spending a few minutes in the cool winter air and then warming up inside is a great way to get the best of both worlds.
These kids didn’t seem to mind the cold and were truly wonderful subjects. Their fabulous momma brought her two boys in for photos at 6 months old, which is my favorite baby age because they’re so chubby and smiley! So, as you can imagine, I was very excited when she booked me for a 6 month session with her baby girl. I’m so happy with how they turned out!
I love playing with kids; they’re so active and full of life! My camera gets bounced around a lot as I run to catch up with them but that’s just fine with me. Sometimes I have no idea what I’m capturing from one moment to the next because they’re moving so fast and there’s never a moment to view the back of my camera. Then editing comes and there’s so much anticipation to get home and upload the images to my computer just to see what was created. Most often, these end up being my favorite sessions; working so hard, not completely sure if I got exactly what I wanted, but in the end, the payoff is twice as sweet when it’s better than I’d even hoped for.
