What do you do on a snowed-in day in February? Relive November’s Fall mini sessions. We had the most wonderful day for fall photos! There is always a risk when you plan 13 photo sessions in one day and bank on the weather cooperating. It is my biggest challenge as a photographer; planning around our unpredictable British Columbia weather. I’ve joked for years that if I only had control of the weather my job would be perfect. Thankfully, on this day, God smiled down on us and we only had a couple sprinkles here and there. Each group was terrific and I thoroughly enjoyed every mini session. Can’t wait to do it again this year!

As I sit at my desk, watching the snow fall, I had the sudden urge to blog some colourful photos from fall. It’s such a vibrant time of year and I miss it already. Not that I’m sad about the snow, it’s a nice change and I’m hoping this pretty white stuff hangs on for some photos tomorrow! For now though, I’m basking in the light of these images and remembering a warm autumn evening. I’ve been editing like a mad woman for the last couple months (busy season!) and thought it was high time I caught up on a little blogging too. I’ve never photographed this family before and I really enjoyed chatting with them and watching their smiles and connections with each other. They were celebrating the arrival of their handsome son just a few months before. As you can see he’s a blessed little boy with lots of love from his parents and big sister. Enjoy the flashback to fall.

It’s been so much fun to watch my friends become parents to this handsome little man. These past four years have flown by but it’s been a joy to see them grow together. Such a sweet family. Adore them! This session almost didn’t happen due to the rain and we changed locations about three times. In the end I’m so glad we found this little forest and the weather turned out prettier than expected. The railroad tracks where a last minute idea that suited them so well too. It’s such a joy to be a family photographer and work with the people I love. I’ve always said I’d do this job for free if I inherited millions because I’d want to capture my friends regardless.

My favorite spot, again! And a favorite family too:) These gorgeous kids are growing fast and, of course, they were amazing subjects as usual. We enjoyed many candies throughout their photography session which is always helpful. Their little boy was my new best friend and he followed me around asking so sweetly for more. I couldn’t resist. Adorable. I adore watching these munchkins run and laugh and would do whatever they wanted in the hour or two we have together. As always, momma did a fantastic job choosing wardrobe. They look perfect, don’t you think?! Their family photo session went off without a hitch and I’m always grateful that I get to be a small part of their world!

I’m back! A busy summer filled with sessions and our own family adventures had me busy but blogging will be happening more often now.
The start of the summer this year brought so much nasty weather, this session had to be moved a couple times in hopes of catching a beautiful day. Either we had too much rain or too much wind, we could never get a break! Lucky for us, we ended up with a calm, clear evening that we could finally hold our outdoor session on! The photos turned out exactly as wonderful as we envisioned they’d be. The kids were patient and easy to work with, let me tell you, they could have careers as models. Sometimes it’s hard to keep the young ones happy and engaged but these boys were so well behaved and sweet! We had a ton of fun together. We took our photos in two different locations, Ellwood Park and downtown Abbotsford. I love the combination of the urban scene and the woodsy natural setting. It makes for such an interesting session and shows off this lovely family in different ways!
You’ll remember these lovely faces for sure. They’ve been featured on my site more than a time or two! Welcome to the world, baby Derrick! This adorable little boy and his family celebrated his birth by enjoying the breezy outdoors. His gorgeous momma really wanted to capture nature’s beauty and I think with this location we really got what we were looking for. What an amazing big sister he has, too! She was incredibly sweet, cooperative, and of course, simply too cute for words. I just love the wonderful blue skies we had that day and the rustic fallen logs we were able to find as a natural backdrop. I’m so lucky to get the opportunity to see this family a lot and they always look so at home with natural scenery. And of course, what little boy’s photography session is complete without a dump truck? Such a great idea from clever momma! Enjoy the photos and congrats to this darling family!
Beautiful girls in a beautiful tulip field. Who could ask for anything more?! You will probably recognize these elegant ladies because they’ve graced the pages of this blog a few times before. I met them about two and a half years ago when the lovely Almira was expecting her baby girl. This session however was really all about sisters. Two older sisters and Almira’s two daughters, the younger sisters, were the stars of the show. All of these stunning ladies share a very special bond between them. I loved watching them all interact with each other and seeing the pride in sweet momma’s face while she watched her darling girls together was such a gratifying experience. Looking back at these photos, I’m remembering the serious heat wave we had back in May and it makes me long for the summer weather to come back quickly! We had such a beautiful spring, and I’m excited for the heat we’ve just got back! We just don’t get enough of these perfect days. Enjoy!
After talking to Mrs. B a little bit, I just knew I’d enjoy working with her and her little family. She had lots of great ideas and was looking forward to having an outdoor session. We were originally considering a few different parks in the local area when she called to see if I thought her family blueberry fields would be a good idea. Of course it was! Being an Abbotsford girl my whole life, I grew up around berry fields and I’ve always loved them. I can also understand the importance of doing photos in places with so many great memories attached to them. This beautiful momma chose the perfect dress to contrast with the background, too. Look at those handsome boys! They really know how to pose for the camera and still look so natural. Such an adorable family with so much love and so many smiles. I’m very excited to photograph the new baby next week so stay tuned for those! Congratulations to the B Family!
As if the day wasn’t already a great day at the tulip farm, I got to spend it with not only one of my favorite families, but two! I went with The M family as well as these lovely people, the Gronbergs, in one huge photo session! You’ll probably recognize these guys from loads of other posts on this site. I’m super lucky to see them pretty often. I’ve know Adrienne since high school back in the day. Their kids are getting so big! They were sweet for us the whole time and they are always naturals in front of the camera. They always take gorgeous photographs, but the blooming flowers were such a special treat to use as a springtime setting! That and of course, the sunset. Amazing!!
It was so lovely to spend some time with this super beautiful family a couple weeks back. Anna and I went to high school together and it was great to catch up on the news in each other’s lives and hang out and have some laughs. Her fantastic husband pulled some strings with the farmers at a local tulip farm and we were able to sneak in on a sunny Sunday evening to enjoy all the beautiful flowers all by ourselves. Their darling little girl (who I’d photographed a couple times before) was all smiles for us and it was so much fun to watch them play and laugh with each other. Let’s not fail to mention the fantastic wardrobe momma chose for everyone too! Everybody looked stylish but still so casual. What a wonderful time with a wonderful family!
