You’ll remember these lovely faces for sure. They’ve been featured on my site more than a time or two! Welcome to the world, baby Derrick! This adorable little boy and his family celebrated his birth by enjoying the breezy outdoors. His gorgeous momma really wanted to capture nature’s beauty and I think with this location we really got what we were looking for. What an amazing big sister he has, too! She was incredibly sweet, cooperative, and of course, simply too cute for words. I just love the wonderful blue skies we had that day and the rustic fallen logs we were able to find as a natural backdrop. I’m so lucky to get the opportunity to see this family a lot and they always look so at home with natural scenery. And of course, what little boy’s photography session is complete without a dump truck? Such a great idea from clever momma! Enjoy the photos and congrats to this darling family!
Beautiful girls in a beautiful tulip field. Who could ask for anything more?! You will probably recognize these elegant ladies because they’ve graced the pages of this blog a few times before. I met them about two and a half years ago when the lovely Almira was expecting her baby girl. This session however was really all about sisters. Two older sisters and Almira’s two daughters, the younger sisters, were the stars of the show. All of these stunning ladies share a very special bond between them. I loved watching them all interact with each other and seeing the pride in sweet momma’s face while she watched her darling girls together was such a gratifying experience. Looking back at these photos, I’m remembering the serious heat wave we had back in May and it makes me long for the summer weather to come back quickly! We had such a beautiful spring, and I’m excited for the heat we’ve just got back! We just don’t get enough of these perfect days. Enjoy!
After talking to Mrs. B a little bit, I just knew I’d enjoy working with her and her little family. She had lots of great ideas and was looking forward to having an outdoor session. We were originally considering a few different parks in the local area when she called to see if I thought her family blueberry fields would be a good idea. Of course it was! Being an Abbotsford girl my whole life, I grew up around berry fields and I’ve always loved them. I can also understand the importance of doing photos in places with so many great memories attached to them. This beautiful momma chose the perfect dress to contrast with the background, too. Look at those handsome boys! They really know how to pose for the camera and still look so natural. Such an adorable family with so much love and so many smiles. I’m very excited to photograph the new baby next week so stay tuned for those! Congratulations to the B Family!
As if the day wasn’t already a great day at the tulip farm, I got to spend it with not only one of my favorite families, but two! I went with The M family as well as these lovely people, the Gronbergs, in one huge photo session! You’ll probably recognize these guys from loads of other posts on this site. I’m super lucky to see them pretty often. I’ve know Adrienne since high school back in the day. Their kids are getting so big! They were sweet for us the whole time and they are always naturals in front of the camera. They always take gorgeous photographs, but the blooming flowers were such a special treat to use as a springtime setting! That and of course, the sunset. Amazing!!
It was so lovely to spend some time with this super beautiful family a couple weeks back. Anna and I went to high school together and it was great to catch up on the news in each other’s lives and hang out and have some laughs. Her fantastic husband pulled some strings with the farmers at a local tulip farm and we were able to sneak in on a sunny Sunday evening to enjoy all the beautiful flowers all by ourselves. Their darling little girl (who I’d photographed a couple times before) was all smiles for us and it was so much fun to watch them play and laugh with each other. Let’s not fail to mention the fantastic wardrobe momma chose for everyone too! Everybody looked stylish but still so casual. What a wonderful time with a wonderful family!
Well, this is a first! I’ve never done a Year in Review post and although I know things like this usually happen early in January, I thought it was time I tried one for myself! Better late than never, right? I was originally going through photos in order to start a new business Instagram account. I’ve been feeling like I need a new open platform to give clients a sneak peek into some of my work and Instagram seemed like the perfect place to start! I took a little time (okay, way too much time) going through each and every family, newborn, toddler, maternity, engagement and wedding session I did during the last year and chose one photo from each. JUST one. That was the really hard part! I get to know these clients so well during our time together that we leave as friends! How am I supposed to pick one picture out of all that fun? Still, I managed to do it, and here is the beautiful result! A little slice of the beautiful memories we made together this past year. Here’s to another great year, everyone! Enjoy!
Oh, what fun it is to chase a one year old around! This little lady can certainly move. Maggie is already an expert at stairs, she doesn’t have much fear of anything, and is sure giving her attentive momma a run for her money. But, really, who can blame her?! There’s a great big beautiful world out there to explore. Have you seen the lovely flowers starting to show their faces to the sun? Sure, the sun spends a lot of time hiding behind those clouds, but I’m always so happy to see the first flowers of spring and I was quite excited that they’ve even come a little bit early this year, too. We took a little trip to Abbotsford City Hall where the cherry tress were in full bloom and the teal benches and railings have always been a favorite backdrop of mine. Here’s what we captured to celebrate Maggie’s fist magical birthday!
Yes, my blog has been taking a back seat to other things in my life recently. It’s terrible, I know, but don’t worry! I’m back now! Here’s a cute little fella that came to the studio last week to celebrate his first birthday. Just look at those amazing eyes! Seriously, wow! His siblings and his parents are pretty darn adorable too. We had an awesome time taking these photos together. Happy first birthday little man!
Oh goodness, it feels like just last year I chased around an adorable chubby cheeked little boy named Kaiden. Turns out it was really a few years ago and this handsome little man is now the big brother of a darling baby sister and two twin brothers! I have really loved photographing them over the years and this session brought the same joy to me as always. There’s no joy quite like chasing four kids around on a sunny fall morning. Throw a little red wagon into the mix and you have yourself a recipe for complete bliss! That’s just my photographer’s perspective anyway. I know the parents of small children don’t usually feel the same way. Most tend to think it’s sheer madness but I’ve done this long enough to know that I can capture magic amidst the mayhem. So here’s to a magical morning with charming children! …Oh, and their awesome but over worked parents, too.
I had so much fun at the Christmas Mini sessions this year! The weather was truly superb. It was clear, sunny and a little bit crisp out. I couldn’t have asked for better! Also, my clients are amazing people! I had such a great time catching up with so many of them. I feel so blessed that many of them come back year after year.
I also loved spending time at Bergan Bro’s Christmas Tree farm in Arnold. It’s a perfect place to photograph this time of year! Please check them out of you still need a tree!
Here are some of my favorite photos of the day. Of course, a few of the families’ photos will be “missing” so they can surprise their loved ones with the beautiful photos come this Christmas!
